What is MedSquare about ?

A powerful and flexible modular environment for exploration of medical images, both for clinical and scientific purposes. The aim is to provide image conversion, processing, visualization and analysis tools for a number of medical image modalities, such as Magnetic Resonance (MR), Computer Tomography (CT), Positron Emission and Single Photon Emission Tomography (PET and SPECT).

MedSquare is designed from the ground up to be:

  • Free: released under LGPL, it will always free to use, free to copy and free to tinker with.
  • Modular: it is all about joining pieces of software, sharing resources and combining features.
  • Scriptable: easy automation of tasks, according to one's needs.
  • Cross-platform: available for most operating systems (Windowsâ„¢, Linux and Mac OS Xâ„¢).
  • Simple and intuitive: focused on usability and efficiency.

MedSquare, as a medical imaging OSS project, aims at producing superior software to the end user (i.e. enhanced usability, security, reliability), by employing a development model that ensures code quality while lowering production costs, and facilitating open standards by encouraging competing implementations[*].
